Frequently Asked Questions
The lid opens or closes by itself, how do I fix this?+
Check that no object is directly above the sensor: the vertical area above the detection head must stay clear, otherwise the bin triggers accidentally. Also avoid strong light aimed at the detection area, which upsets its sensitivity. Finally, keep the bin away from appliances with strong electromagnetic radiation, such as an induction hob.
The indicator light is red and the bin sometimes stops, what's happening?+
A red indicator light signals that the batteries are low: less than a week of battery life remains. If an automatic stop occurs during normal use, replace the batteries without delay. Use high-performance alkaline batteries.
What batteries are needed, and are they included?+
The appliance runs on 4 AA 1.5V alkaline batteries, which are not included. Observe polarity (+/-) when inserting them. Do not dispose of used batteries with household waste; take them to a battery collection point instead.
How do I fit the batteries and turn the bin on?+
Remove the bin's head, open the battery compartment cover underneath it, fit the 4 AA alkaline batteries observing polarity, then close the compartment. Then switch the switch to position I: the indicator light comes on for 3 seconds then goes off, and the appliance is on. Position O switches the bin off.
How close do I need to bring my hand for the lid to open?+
Bring your hand or an object to about 30 cm above the detection area at the front of the lid: it opens automatically and the indicator light flashes. The lid stays open as long as your hand remains in the area, then closes by itself 5 seconds after you move it away. The actual range varies depending on the environment of use.
Can I rinse my bin with water?+
No, never rinse the bin directly with water and do not use it in a damp room: the mechanism is sensitive to moisture. If water gets in accidentally, immediately remove the batteries and leave the appliance to dry in a ventilated area before using it again.
Can I push the lid closed by hand?+
No. Forcing the lid or shaking it quickly while it is operating can permanently damage the mechanism. Use the button on the detection area to open or close the lid.
