Frequently Asked Questions
White smoke is coming out of my fryer, is that serious?+
No. When cooking fatty food, a large amount of oil runs into the pot: it heats up and produces this white smoke, with no consequence for the appliance or the result. The smoke can also come from grease residue left over from the previous cooking cycle: clean the pot thoroughly after each use.
My food isn't cooked at the end of the programme, why?+
Three possible causes: too large a quantity of ingredients in the pot, the temperature set too low, or the cooking time too short. Reduce the quantities (small quantities cook more evenly), increase the temperature or extend the timer.
My food cooks unevenly, what should I do?+
Some ingredients need to be stirred or turned over halfway through cooking. This applies in particular to food that overlaps or crosses over, such as chips: stir them halfway through the programme.
The pot doesn't fit properly into the appliance, why?+
Either there are too many ingredients: never fill beyond the MAX mark on the pot. Or the pot is not positioned correctly: push it into the appliance until you hear a click.
My homemade chips aren't crispy, how can I fix this?+
Use fresh, firm potatoes, then rinse the chips well to remove surface starch. Dry them thoroughly before adding the oil. Cutting thinner sticks and adding a little more oil gives a crispier result.
My new fryer gives off a smell and a bit of smoke, is that normal?+
Yes. The first time it is used, a slight smell or a small amount of smoke may be given off: this is the manufacturing residue burning off. This is normal and disappears quickly.
Do the basket and the tray go in the dishwasher?+
Yes, the basket and the tray can be washed in the dishwasher. They can also be cleaned with a sponge and hot soapy water, without abrasive products or a scouring pad. Never immerse the fryer itself or its plug in water: wipe the outside with a damp cloth.
Can I put my fryer under a wall cabinet or a shelf?+
No. Leave at least ten centimetres of clear space on all sides for air circulation, and never place the fryer under a cupboard, a blind or a curtain: risk of overheating and fire. Do not place anything on top of it and do not cover it. Place it on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface.
