Product FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

My microwave no longer heats, what should I check before calling the after-sales service?+

Place a cup of water (about 150 ml) in a glass container, close the door firmly and run the oven for 1 minute. Then check: does the lamp light up, does the cooling fan run (hand in front of the rear openings), does the turntable rotate, is the water hot? If the answer is no to any of these points, check the wall socket and the meter fuse, then contact the authorised service centre. The turntable can rotate in either direction: this is normal.

My new microwave gives off a smell and a bit of smoke, is that normal?+

Yes: this is due to manufacturing or oil residue present in the cavity or on the heating element. Place a cup of water in the oven, set it to high power and run it several times to make the phenomenon disappear.

How do I remove bad smells inside the oven?+

Heat a cup containing several lemon slices at high power for 2 to 3 minutes. You can also heat a cup of red tea at high power, or a few pieces of orange peel for 1 minute at high power.

Can I put a metal or aluminium dish in the microwave?+

No. Metal containers for food and drinks are not allowed in the microwave oven. Only use utensils suitable for microwave use, and watch the oven when heating in plastic or paper, because of the risk of ignition.

Can I heat an egg in its shell or a sealed jar?+

No in both cases. Eggs in their shell and whole hard-boiled eggs can explode, even after heating has finished. Liquids and food in hermetically sealed containers can also explode: always open or pierce the container.

Smoke is coming out of the oven during cooking, what should I do?+

Switch off or unplug the appliance immediately and keep the door closed to smother any flame. Do not open the door. Then clean the oven: grease built up on the waveguide cover can overheat, smoke and catch fire.

How do I lock the keypad to stop children using the oven?+

In standby mode, hold the STOP/lock key down for more than 3 seconds: all keys become inactive. To unlock, hold the STOP/lock key down again for more than 3 seconds.

Can I build my microwave into a cabinet?+

No, the appliance is designed to be freestanding and must not be placed inside a cupboard. Leave at least 10 cm between the back and the wall, 5 cm on the sides, 20 cm above, and place it at least 85 cm off the floor. Installation must not exceed 900 mm in height above the floor.
