My microwave grill smells of burning and gives off a bit of smoke at first, is that serious?+
No. Manufacturing or oil residue in the cavity or on the heating element gives off a smell, and sometimes light smoke, which disappears after several uses. To get rid of it faster, place a cup of water in the cavity, set the oven to high power and run it several times.
My oven no longer heats, what can I check myself?+
Place a cup of water (about 150 ml) in a glass container, close the door firmly and let the oven run for 1 minute. Check that the lamp lights up, that the cooling fan blows through the openings at the back, that the turntable rotates and that the water is hot. If any of these points fails, check the wall socket and the meter fuse, then contact the nearest authorised service centre.
On the grill setting, my dish browns on top but stays cold in the middle, why?+
In grill mode, only the heating element is powered: it browns the surface nicely but does not cook deeply. On thick food, the surface may grill while the centre stays raw. The grill is best suited to sausages, chicken wings, chops, slices of meat and sandwiches; for thick food, use a combination mode.
What do combination modes 1, 2 and 3 correspond to?+
In combination mode, the magnetron and the heating element operate alternately. Combination 1 (30% microwave, 70% grill) is suitable for roasting chops and sandwiches. Combination 2 (49% / 51%) is suited to small chickens and meats, and combination 3 (67% microwave, 33% grill) to large chickens and ducks.
How do I set a cooking time of less than 2 minutes?+
First turn the timer dial to the 3-minute position, then turn it back to the desired time. The maximum settable time is 30 minutes and a bell sounds when the timer returns to zero.
How do I remove smells that have settled in the oven?+
Place several lemon slices in a cup and heat for 2 to 3 minutes at high microwave power. You can also heat a cup of red tea at high power, or orange peel for 1 minute at high power.
Can I wash the glass plate right after cooking?+
No. Do not put the glass plate in cold water right after use. Let it rest for at least 20 minutes before putting it in water, otherwise it may crack.
Where should I install my microwave grill and how much space should I leave around it?+
Install it in a dry, non-corrosive location, away from any heat or moisture source, leaving at least 10 cm behind, 5 cm on the sides, 20 cm above and 85 cm between the oven and the floor. It must not be built into a cabinet or placed inside a cupboard. Keep it more than 5 m away from a television, radio or aerial to avoid interference.
