Product FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

My microwave gives off a smell and a bit of smoke the first few times I use it, is that normal?+

Yes. Manufacturing or oil residue left in the cavity or on the heating element causes a smell, and sometimes light smoke, which disappears after several uses. Open the door or the room window to ventilate well. Place a cup of water in the cavity, set the oven to high power and run it several times to speed up the disappearance.

My microwave no longer heats, what should I check before calling the after-sales service?+

Place a cup of water (about 150 ml) in a glass container, close the door firmly and run the oven for 1 minute. Then check that the lamp lights up, that the cooling fan blows at the back, that the turntable rotates and that the water is hot. If any of these checks fails, check the wall socket and the fuse on the electrical panel; if they work, contact the nearest authorised service centre.

How do I get rid of bad smells inside the oven?+

After a long period of use, smells can build up in the cavity. Place several lemon slices in a cup and heat for 2 to 3 minutes at high microwave power. You can also heat a cup of red tea at high power, or orange peel for 1 minute at high power.

How do I clean the inside of my microwave without damaging it?+

After use, wipe the waveguide cover with a damp cloth, then with a dry cloth, to remove food splashes and grease: accumulated grease can overheat, smoke or catch fire. Wipe the door, seals, cavity and control panel with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Never use a harsh detergent, petrol, abrasive powder or a metal brush, and never remove the waveguide cover.

Can I run the glass turntable under water right after cooking?+

No. Do not put cold water directly on the glass plate after use. Let the plate cool for at least 20 minutes before rinsing it with water, otherwise it may crack.

How much space should I leave around the microwave when installing it?+

Leave at least 10 cm between the back of the oven and the wall, 5 cm on the sides, 20 cm above the top surface, and place it at least 85 cm off the floor. Do not build it into a cabinet or place it inside a cupboard: it is designed to be freestanding. Keep it at least 5 m away from a television, radio or aerial to avoid picture or sound interference.

How do I set a cooking time shorter than 2 minutes?+

First turn the timer dial past 3 minutes, then turn it back to the desired time. The timer can be set up to a maximum of 30 minutes; a bell sounds at the end and the dial returns to "0".

Can I use a metal dish or a sealed container in the microwave?+

No. Metal containers for food and drinks are not allowed for microwave cooking: only use utensils suitable for microwave use. Never heat liquids or food in a hermetically sealed container, they may explode. Watch the oven when heating in plastic or paper, because of the risk of ignition.
